Emily Nixon
“Luxuriously unconventional, my pieces are uniquely carved and moulded in wax, sometimes with organic components, then cast into precious metal. Each collection has developed in response to the last; a continual process of refining shapes and ideas.
Beach finds are tools in the process of making; pebbles and bundles of seaweed fill the studio; my inspiration hanging, tied and drying into new twists. Transformed, these cast fragments of ribbon-like kelp and spiny holdfast tendrils now have diamonds in their midst, spicy earth and teal coloured sapphires collected on travels to Sri Lanka, caught in their folds.”
