My studio is a two hundred year old forge in the remote and overgrown post-industrial landscape of a disused Granite Quarry near Falmouth. Stepping from my door I walk the landscape, gathering the archaeology of industry. It is in this time of gathering and observation that the found sheets of corrugated metal and old copper tanks suggest to my eye what they might become, be it sky or wall or building or sea. My palette is the naturally occurring shades of rust and the blues of copper – the materials own reaction to climate. I utilise charcoals minimally for details or tonal variation to increase perspective.
