Louise Young
Louise spent her childhood in Galloway, Scotland, her early teens near Nottingham, and at eighteen came to study art in Wales where she married, brought up her family, and still lives. After working mainly in fashion she came back to fine art to study for the diploma in Botanical painting in 2004-6 at the English Gardening School in the Chelsea Physic Garden, London.
Her watercolour paintings on vellum and paper are of botanical subjects and found natural objects. Since 2008 she has exhibited with the group ‘Amicus Botanicus’ in London and elsewhere. She also exhibits regularly in Wales and further afield. Louise has work in private collections in the UK and America and in the permanent collection of contemporary Welsh Art at MOMA Wales, Machynlleth.
